Trajector Bankruptcy: What It Means for Your SSDI

Trajector Bankruptcy

Trajector Bankruptcy Status

Trajector Holdings, LLC and 21 related companies, including Trajector Disability, LLC, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on July 23, 2026. The company says it's still operating while it reorganizes its debt. If Trajector Disability represents you on a Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claim, your claim is still active with the Social Security Administration (SSA). You also have the right to change representatives at any time. Quikaid - America's Disability Experts® has helped over 250,000 people since 1993, and we can take over a claim already in progress.

  • Your SSDI or SSI claim belongs to you and stays on file with SSA, no matter what happens to a representative's company.
  • You can change disability representatives at any stage. Appeal deadlines don't pause when you do.
  • A representative on a Social Security claim can't charge you unless SSA approves it, and the amount is limited by federal law.
  • Switching to Quikaid doesn't cost you extra. We handle the paperwork and notify SSA and your prior representative for you.

What Is Happening With Trajector Disability?

Trajector Disability is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of a larger group of companies. Trajector Holdings, LLC and 21 affiliates filed on July 23, 2026, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. The affiliates include Trajector Disability, LLC, which helps people with Social Security disability claims, and Trajector Medical, LLC, which helps veterans gather medical evidence for VA disability claims.

Trajector Disability was formerly known as Myler Disability and took the Trajector name in 2021. Trajector Medical was formerly Vet Comp & Pen Medical Consulting.

Chapter 11 is a reorganization, not a shutdown. It lets a company keep doing business while a court oversees its plan to deal with its debts. In its July 23 announcement, Trajector said it "will continue serving clients as usual" during the process.

Why this matters to you: A bankruptcy filing doesn't cancel your Social Security claim. It does mean the company representing you is going through a major change, so it's worth knowing your options.

Why Did Trajector File for Bankruptcy?

Trajector filed for bankruptcy because a large loan was about to come due and the company couldn't refinance it. Court filings and news reports point to several pressures that built up over 2025 and 2026.

A loan coming due. Trajector owed about $62.9 million on a secured loan set to mature on July 28, 2026. NPR reported the lender was Deutsche Bank and that Trajector filed five days before it would have defaulted. A chief restructuring officer told the court the lenders declined to extend the loan.

Falling revenue. According to NPR, the companies brought in nearly $280 million in 2025. But Trajector Medical's revenue in the first half of 2026 fell about 60% from the year before. The company blamed new state laws that regulate paid help with veterans' benefits claims. NPR reported that Trajector Medical has stopped offering services in 23 states since 2024.

Lawsuits. Two proposed class actions were filed in Florida in 2026. The plaintiffs allege Trajector Medical charged veterans as much as $20,000 for help with VA disability claims without VA accreditation. Under VA rules, no one may charge for help with an initial VA claim. Trajector denies the claims and says it charges only when a veteran's benefits go up because of evidence it provided. The bankruptcy filing paused both lawsuits.

State investigations. In a September 8, 2026 letter to the bankruptcy court, the New York and Illinois attorneys general said they intend to take legal action, alleging deceptive business practices. Trajector denies the allegations.

An internal dispute. Filings also describe a dispute with a co-founder and a related court fight over who had authority to refinance the debt.

Why this matters to you: The legal and money problems center on Trajector's VA business. But a company under this kind of pressure can still face staff changes and slower response times across all its services.

What the Trajector Bankruptcy Means for Your Social Security Disability Claim

Your SSDI or SSI claim is between you and the Social Security Administration (SSA). Your representative helps you with it, but the claim and your file stay with SSA. A representative's bankruptcy doesn't close your claim, erase your medical records, or move you back to the start.

Here's what stays the same, and what to watch:

Your question The answer
Is my claim still active? Yes. SSA keeps your application, your medical evidence, and your appeal history on file.
Is my representative still my representative? Yes, until you or they end the appointment. Trajector says it's still serving clients.
Do my deadlines stop? No. If you get a denial, you have 60 days to appeal, whether or not your representative is going through changes.
Can I switch representatives? Yes, at any stage of the process. The choice is yours.
Will I lose my back pay? Your back pay is figured by SSA based on your claim, not your representative. Changing representatives doesn't reset it.

If You Paid Trajector for Help With a VA Claim

The proof of claim deadline in the bankruptcy applies to people who believe Trajector owes them money, such as veterans who paid fees for VA claim help. The current deadline is October 31, 2026. A court hearing on October 15 could affect it, so check the official case site at veritaglobal.net/trajector or call the claims agent, Verita, at 888-249-2695. Quikaid isn't involved in the bankruptcy case. For questions about your rights as a creditor, talk with a lawyer.

Why this matters to you: Watch your mail from SSA closely. A missed notice or deadline can set a claim back months, whoever your representative is.

How Payment Works With a Social Security Disability Representative

A Social Security Administration (SSA) representative can only be paid an amount SSA approves, and federal law limits it. That's the biggest difference between Social Security representation and private claim services that set their own prices in a contract.

It's understandable to worry about the cost, and it's one of the most common reasons people delay getting help. Payment for disability representation doesn't work like it does for other legal services.

No upfront cost. Pay only if you win. Fees are capped by federal law.

Quikaid vs. Red Flags in Any Paid Claims Service

Quikaid (regulated by SSA) Red flags to watch for
Upfront cost None. No retainer and no deposit. Asks for a deposit, setup charge, or monthly payment
When you pay Only if you win Bills you whether or not you're approved
How much 25% of your back pay, up to a dollar limit set by federal law Amount set by a private contract, with no federal limit
How you pay SSA pays us from your withheld back pay. You never write a check. Invoices, direct billing, or collection calls
Case costs We pay for medical records, copies, and postage. You'll never get a bill from us. Separate charges for records, copies, or paperwork
Oversight SSA must approve the amount before we're paid Not approved or accredited by the agency deciding the claim

How Quikaid Gets Paid

  • SSA sets the limit. Under federal law (42 U.S.C. 406(a)), payment to a Social Security representative under a fee agreement is 25% of your past-due benefits, up to a dollar limit SSA sets, whichever is less. A representative can't charge or collect anything SSA hasn't authorized.
  • You pay only if you win. If you're not approved, you owe us nothing. You won't get an invoice, and we never send anyone to collections.
  • SSA handles the payment. When you're approved, SSA holds back the approved amount from your back pay, pays us directly, and sends the rest to you. Your ongoing monthly benefits aren't touched.
  • No hidden costs. Many representatives bill separately for medical records, copies, and postage, because SSA's limit doesn't cover those costs. Quikaid pays them for you, win or lose, and never asks to be paid back.

Learn more about when representatives get paid.

Why this matters to you: If anyone asks you for money up front to help with a Social Security disability claim, that's a red flag. Ask them to show you how SSA approves what they charge.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is Trajector Disability going out of business?

Not as of October 14, 2026. Trajector Disability is part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which lets a company keep operating while it reorganizes its debts. Trajector has said it will keep serving clients during the process. The outcome depends on the court and the company's reorganization plan.

Will the Trajector bankruptcy affect my SSDI or SSI claim?

Your claim stays active with the Social Security Administration (SSA), along with your medical evidence and appeal history. The bankruptcy doesn't change SSA's rules or your back pay. Your deadlines still apply, so keep opening your mail from SSA and respond on time.

Can I change my disability representative in the middle of my claim?

Yes. You can change representatives at any stage, including at the hearing level. You sign Form SSA-1696 to appoint your new representative, and at the hearing level or Appeals Council, you also sign a statement revoking the prior appointment. Quikaid prepares both for you.

Does it cost more to switch disability representatives?

No. Switching to Quikaid doesn't cost you anything extra. Payment is still limited to 25% of your back pay, up to the federal limit, and SSA decides how it's divided if more than one representative asks to be paid. We notify SSA and your prior representative for you.

Do disability advocates charge fees if I don't win?

Not for Social Security disability claims handled under an SSA fee agreement. If you're not approved, you don't pay Quikaid anything, and we don't bill you for medical records or copies. Some representatives do bill for those costs separately, so ask before you sign.

I paid Trajector for help with a VA claim. What should I do?

You may be able to file a proof of claim in the bankruptcy. The current deadline is October 31, 2026. File online at veritaglobal.net/trajector or call Verita at 888-249-2695. For advice about your rights as a creditor, talk with a lawyer. Filing a proof of claim doesn't change your VA benefits.

Can veterans get Social Security disability and VA disability at the same time?

Yes. You can receive both if you qualify for each one. SSA and the VA use different rules, so a VA rating doesn't mean automatic approval for SSDI. VA disability payments count as income for SSI, so they often put veterans over the SSI income limit. SSDI is based on your work history instead, so VA payments don't reduce it.

How to Switch Your Disability Representative to Quikaid

You can change disability representatives at any point in the Social Security Administration (SSA) process. Switching to Quikaid doesn't restart your claim and doesn't cost you more. We handle the forms, notify SSA and your prior representative for you, and pick up where your case left off.

Step What you do What Quikaid does
1. Free Case Evaluation Tell us your claim level Check your status with SSA
2. End prior representation Sign one letter Prepare and submit it to SSA
3. Fee waiver Nothing Request the waiver from your prior representative
4. Form SSA-1696 Sign electronically File it with SSA
5. Case handoff Keep up with your doctor visits Review your file, track deadlines, gather records

Why this matters to you: Do not wait until a deadline is close to make a change. The sooner a new representative is on file, the more time they have to prepare your case.
